Recommend you Penpower WorldCard Color Scanner software this is because of great features and always upgrade. This works so much better than the NEAT RECEIPTS scanner I tried first, and is less expensive. The card transport rarely (maybe 3 times in 290 scans)jams a card or slips on the card, unlike other scanners I have tried. If you get a misread, Penpower WorldCard Color Scanner is easy to rescan or delete, unlike other scanners I have tried. The scanning and translation algorithms are more accurate than others so there is less editing to perform, and the editing features are superior. My only complaint is their website and sales literature do not explain that the software scans only into ACT! 2007 and 2008. However their export features make it easy to export directly into ACT! 2000. Other scanners that I have tried had a pre-defined CSV export that did not include addresses or fax numbers. The Penpower export gives you control over the fields to export and a wide variety of export data types. I would consider this mandatory equipment for any salesperson, and would recommend to anyone considering a purchase.

I've used this scanner on a HP 8000 laptop running XP and on a HP 9000 laptop running Vista. It's a great piece of kit and it comes with some excellent software. I fed it a stream of American and Brazilian business cards and the OCR software did an excellent job of entering the data from the cards into the supplied database software. Where editing was required, the software couldn't be simpler and just requires you to highlight the area of the scanned card and then select what field you want to send the data too. Double sided cards are no problem either and even photographs are lifted from the card and placed into the database. If the card has no photograph then simply add any old photograph if you wish. I also exported the data to my MP3 player as JPG images so that the stored business cards could be displayed on the MP3 player's screen. I highly recommend this product.

The software is easy to install. We scanned in a couple dozen cards and had them imported into Outlook within 15 minutes. You do have to check each field to verify that the information is put into the right place. But it's really not much trouble at all. The only dislike is that unneeded webcam software was installed at the same time.

I researched for a card reader for the past 6 months and read all the reviews. I decided to try the Penpower WorldCard Color Scanner V6.2. I am thrilled. The software is great. You can edit after the scan. You also get a large view of the card you scanned attached to the database. Now I can organize all those business cards laying in the drawers or wherever. It works on my Vista computers just find.
