Parallel Print Server product is discontinued and will be substituted with a different model (TE100-P1P). When I recieved Parallel Print model it had no Netware queue or ipx support, which I needed. Tiger was pretty good at taking it back and sending me a different model (Hawking).

The TRENDnet Print Server does a great job of networking parallel port type printers. Follow the Basic Setup Guide for connecting the Print Server to your network. The CD-based Installation Utility easily discovers the unit and allows a quick IP change for managing the unit or even the option of using DHCP from your network for an automatic IP assignment. Additional Items needed include a CAT5 cable (not included) to plug the Print Server into your network and the Printer Driver for the printer you are networking. The Basic Setup Guide prompts you to set the Print Server up as a “network printer which uses a “server-port (the server is the Print Server and Parallel Print Server is associated port) addressing although IP addressing is an option. Considering the alternatives, this is an excellent value. Tiger does it again.

I picked up a second TE100-P1P, as my HP LaserJet 2100's built in JetDirect card has been a headache. This includes a newer setup disk (Ver 2.2) which made for an easier installation. I deleted the printers on all three of my PCs and reset the printers using this newer utility. Things went very smoothly. I also upgraded the firmware from 4.8 to 4.15 using the firmware from the TrendNet site. (I had already done that on on the orginal TE100-P1P.) Like mentioned, no e-net cable included, but I already had strung some wire to reach the 2100 in my office closet, so Parallel Print Server was a piece of cake. I have 2 PCs wired through my router, as well as a laptop which connects wirelessly. I have also used this same PS in a school PC lab and there have been no problems. Consider networking your printer(s) instead of sharing. That way you do not have to have the host PC running to print. Also, consider installing a PDF printer (I Rx a free one: CutePDF Writer) which lets you print to a PDF file.)

The concept is good and the price was fantastic. I could never get Windows Vista to find the Trendnet print server on my network. I installed it using my XP box found the printe server but was never able to print to it because my HP Laser Jet printer is not supported by it. I sent it back to Tiger Direct with no questions asked and no problems.
