Am afraid that I have to give Linksys 8-Port Router model a don't buy rating. I purchased Linksys 8-Port Router model about two months ago because I needed the amount of ports for my computers and peripherals. Once I added it to my home network I have had nothing but trouble with my internet connection. At first I thought Linksys 8-Port Router was my DSL modem but then I started having trouble with my LAN connections to. Once I realized Linksys 8-Port Router was the Router went on line and found out that a lot of other people where having the same issue. Tried every recommended remedy to no avail. Comes a point when enough is enough, and pulled it off the network put it back in the box and went back to my Linksys BEFSR41 and will end up putting in another switch for the extra ports. So don't end up wasting your money on this model like I did. Seems to be a known issue with this model.

I just picked up the BEFSR81 router, after having used the 4 series for years. I needed an additional connected after having maxed out the 4 ports and chose not to go the switch route because I used my computer to stream from a remote location.Configuration for the 4 series did not require much of a learning curve, but with this router, I merely plugged in the Ethernet cables and there you have it, voila: connected to the net! I was that easy for me.I was so impressed with this router it moved me to comment, which I rarely do. Thanks Cisco for an excellent product.

Heavy 24/7 use on multi OS hybrid network running simultaneously since 9-11-2001, totally stealthed; no DoS; no hassles. Runs like a champ. Not a gigabit dynamo, but with clean systems, I'm working as fast as I can, from latest Intel to vintage AMD; from Windows/MAC, to Unix, and more; from VPN (software-sustained), and FTP, to absolute privacy, (and I like not dealing with neighbors' Wi Fi). What's a cable or two? Secure interior wireless answers mobility; dropped it; flashed it--I'm sold on BEFSR81. It's held Linksys 8-Port Router is value better than anything out there, from cars to condos since 2001. (Do the homework: It's got an 'A' in Linksys 8-Port Router is class). Go Linksys! Go CISCO!

One of the easiest and quickest routers I have ever added to my home network. Easy to add to an existing network, easy to modify and very user friendly. Well worth the money!

Works Great, no set up problems at all! I don't know why other people are having so many problems with Linksys products all of mine run smooth. I called their tech support and asked them one question about cat cable configuration (straight or cross connected to run switch off router port), no problem geting through and they answered my question. Router to switch uses a straight cat 5 or 6 configuration. Very Pleased!Tom Schafer Buffalo NY...GO SABERS!
