If you are going to install XP on Lenovo 3000 N500 4233-52U Notebook system make sure you go into the Bios and switch Sata from AHCI to IDE.. You won't be able to install XP without doing the above procedure, the installation will keep crashing. I have used Thinkpads before Lenovo 3000 N500 4233-52U doesn't even come close. But still better than other budget laptops if u consider the features.

Always one 'Mac Zombie' in the group...''I currently still have a Imac which is about 8 years old and has twice the amount of memry and runs twice as fast.'' (probably paid 5X the price too!) Here's an idea for you...pick up an additional 2Gig Ram and you'll have a machine that flies. Vista is a memory hog, so just add a little more to your system...it's cheap and the laptop holds up to 4Gig. Problem solved for under $25. I, on the other hand, find the quality to be exceptional for the price...not even a refurb. Wi-fi picked up my network instantly from across the house, web cam video looks good, they didn't overload it with a lot of bundled garbage like a lot of other brands do and the performance is great. I personally have trouble using touchpads, but this one actually seems to respond pretty good. I haven't tested the HDMI output yet.This has more features than the average user will ever need...& just try to beat the price. Buy one (or two), you won't regret it...I don't!

I love it!!! This is my first brand new computer and Lenovo 3000 N500 4233-52U Notebook is awesome!! I was scared about buying online and it turned out great.. I would buy this laptop again without a second thought. It's quiet and has tons of features. I have to use dial up because of where i live and it dials up quickly. I can't wait to try it on DSL when it comes here. To the guy who can't use the touch pad. Did you try the button by the volume control?? upper right corner above the keyboard. Same thing happened to me and I read the manual and that was the problem. Hope this helps anyone trying to decide on a laptop purchase. Do it you wont be disappointed. Ordering from Tiger Direct was quick and flawless. I would buy from them again.

I didn't need the latest screamingly fast laptop ... just solid and functional. This unit offers incredible bang for your oh-so-tight recession bucks. Well built, inexpensive, not too heavy, all the right features, and really decent speed for the ''normal'' applications. It comes loaded with Vista (the only negative) but even Vista is not as bad as everyone is saying. I couldn't be happier with this choice and I highly recommended it for anyone needing a decent home computer that travels well. BTW, there's a touch button that turns off the touchpad so if your's doesn't seem to work, don't panic ... just RTFM.

GREAT Laptop for the price!Using it for business, since I do computer consulting. I also had a problem that the touchpad wouldnt work, all I did was go into Device manager and remove the mouse. Computer found the mouse again and it hsa been working since. Would HIGHLY recommend this laptop!
