Everex VA1500V-R gBook Reviews
REVIEW BY: Simplistik Reviewed Oct 13, 2008
I'm giving Everex VA1500V-R gBook Refurbished Notebook unit an overall very satisfactory review for a couple reasons. 1) The 1440x900 resolution is above class, and at Everex VA1500V-R gBook price it's completely unexpected! 2) The gOs that it comes with is OK, but Xubuntu is FAR better on this machine. You can install applications and use the terminal when gOs you really can't. 3) Via's CPU while taxed on Windows works extremely well with Linux and it's better use of services, ram, resources in general. Xubuntu boots up and is on-line within 32 seconds from a cold start. Come out of standby and she's there in 3 seconds. 4) It's Energy efficiency is above class as well. Just crusing the web the CPU draws less than 8watts compared to Intel's Celeron at 14watts and under full load it's 14/22 watts Via/Intel. Battery charges up in less than an hour and seems to last 1hr 40mins with everything on and brightness up. Drop the brightness and turn off the wifi to watch a movie.
