Diamond TV Wonder HD 650 Combo USB HDTV Tuner Reviews

Diamond TV Wonder HD 650 Combo USB HDTV Tuner tuner offers good quality of live and recorded TV video and installation is not difficult. However, documentation for Diamond TV Wonder HD 650 Combo USB HDTV Tuner unit is abysmal, practically non-existent. Many features are only described, instruction on how to actually use them are missing. The labels next to the ports on the unit serve as all the documentation for connections.Features are misrepresented! ATI states the TV Wonder has a dual tuner. What the unit actually has is a NTSC analog tuner and a HD ATSC tuner on two separate coaxial ports. This means that to play and record at same time you would, for instance, need a cable connection to watch AND a HD antenna connection to record, which is just plain silly. The unit does NOT have a dual tuner that allows play and record from a single cable TV connection like TiVo can do.Also, the FM-tuner antenna uses the same coaxial port as the cable-TV requiring unplugging the TV to listen to the radio!

I have a unit which has failed after less than 20 hours. It appears to be intermittent as well as a software driver problem. I have consulted with manufactor with no result. I would not recomend this unit since it appears to have multiple problems and no support.

I installed this item with out any trouble. It works great although I have not tried everything as yet. I beleive that you must use the very latest vista update (service pak 1) and the latest drivers available from diamond. It lacks in good documentation, for instance no directions as to how to set up the remote operation or even that it exists. How I figured it out and it works fine. When chaging channels, Diamond TV Wonder HD 650 Combo USB HDTV Tuner is slow in confirming which channel you are now watching and this makes the channel up - down hard to use. Use a direct method for going to your desired channel (punch in the number or select it from the channel line up).
