I purchased Compaq D51S Intel Desktop (Off-Lease) computer to replace my Mothers aging Pentium III machine for faster start ups and faster running. Bacically it has the features I wanted. BUT the Hard Drive was advertized as 20GB but a 40 GB drive came with it. A few issues:1. Could not format HD with a Bootable CD. Found that the memory was bad using Microsofts downloadable memory checker. Purchased new RAM and solved that problem. 2. Could have been cleaned much better. Used canned air to clean Mother board and CPU Fans and Heat sinks. 3. Better buy a PCI modem if you are trying to be cheap and use a dial up connection as my mother does for $9.95 a month. Notes:The RAM is SDRAM PC133. I did not know Compaq D51S Intel ( ) until I received the unit. In ending, You better have an operating system (Linus,Ubantu,etc) because after you pay $90.00 for XP Home you could have purchased a complete package WITH a DVD Burner and OS for the price after my add ons were purchased. BUT, Compaq D51S Intel Desktop (Off-Lease) is working just fine and looks good.

I buy $1000 a month worth of stuff from Tiger Direct, love them always great service. I bought 10 of these computers. Out of the 10 computers 2 worked!! AVOID THIS COMPUTER, these where all scratched up looking awful and 8 of 10 don't work! Tiger direct was awsome and returned these for me so I could get a credit. I spent an extra $80 per computer paying $180 for the faster model compaq and they work great, they where not sctrached up and had windows already installed. Well worth the extra money I would spend an extra $80 and buy one of those, at all cost AVOID THESE.. they are really bad.

I Got this for a kid getting ready for high school my primary problem with this computer is the ram it takes PC 133 RAM i thought it would take PC 2100 one thing it does have is 3 DIMM Slots so use them to the fullest extent if you can the processor speed varies i briefly had a 2.4GHZ D510 version of this PC but it did not work so i returned it back so i have the D500 model and everything is true it's a P4 1.7GHZ 256MB Ram 20GB HDD this is a basic PC for the Internet Microsoft office and a few small games, if possible get some compressed air for the inside bit dusty.
