Ultra ULT31808 7-Port USB 2.0 Sharing Hub USB hub is unbeatable for the price. The majority of these hubs only work on a single computer,and can cost double the price. I have found that it doesn't always work best with input devices, but I was testing it with a bluetooth keyboard & mouse combo, which is really a special case. Anything other than a standard mouse and keyboard are likely to have complications. It had troubles switching back and forth, and would often get confused and lose synch with a device. It does work well with a USB flash drive and printers. Ultra ULT31808 7-Port USB 2.0 Sharing Hub is great to pair with a multi-computer workstation in conjunction with Synergy (open source software).

This device seemed to work just fine at first, and then it started dropping connections to certain devices and then it would not switch between computers and finally just died completely. I only had the device for two months and in my opinion not worth the effort of connecting it into your system at any cost. It gave me nothing but headaches after only a few weeks.

This is a great concept, it works well but does have some inherent limitations. I cannot vouch for the actual 1.0 vs. 2.0 but it appears to be 2.0 except with certain kinds of input devices. It is labled 2.0 and does seem to function properly. Personally, I like it even though there are linitations. Here is the rub with my particular application: I have 2 devices that it cannot handle well. I have a NuLOOQ for Photoshop work and a 3D Navigator for Poser and other 3D applications. I was hoping to use this to switch between my 2 Macs. It does a fine job with my Wacom Intuos 2 Tablet, my trackballs, my printers and so on, but the two specialized and configurable input devices mentioned seem to require a more direct connection for fast, accurate use, which is critical for those applications. So, if you need to switch something that sensitive, this device will not be fast enough. For other basic switching, it is just the thing!

This product is manufactured by Vakoss model TC-271-AA. I've paid between $29-39 for them. It might more accurately be described as a 2x7 usb switch. the 7 ports are made from 2 4port hubs daisy chained together to create 7 ports. There are 2 sets of these with 7 switches to select CPU A or B. Since the hubs are daisy chained, only 3 ports are tier 1 (first level hub) the other 4 are second level. Some peripherals will not work unless they are on a 1st level hub, so it makes a difference where it's plugged in.Great value - you can't find a 2x4 switch at this price.

I bought this hub a few days ago. At first it worked very well, switching between the 2 computers. Now the first 4 ports cannot switch. They are either on computer A or off, cannot see computer B. The other 3 ports seem to work...for now. I will get a replacement and see if its better.
