TRENDnet USB Print Server print server does not work with ''GDI'' printers. GDI stands for Graphical Desktop Interface which is basically all color laser printers. I spent 2 hours working on TRENDnet USB Print as my Konica Magic Color 2500W printer worked fine direct;y plugged into the USB port but not through the print server. Called Trendnet support and got the bad news directly, it does not work with Konica printers!

It is difficult for me to rate this product since I was not able to get it going with a relatively new Minolta/QMS color laser. After a whole weekend wasted, I too was told that the printer is NOT SUPPORTED. I am the head IT guy at our company and this should be a simple 5 minute install -it's not. Save your money and do not buy this product at least until TrendNET gets their act together. They should have a list of all compatible printers on their site, as well as customer service people who know that list by heart. I have very little patience for CS people who immediately assume I didn't follow directions, only after to realize THEIR product doesn't work. Particularly after I described exactly what I was connecting to it in the first 11 seconds of the phone call.

I spent several hours trying to configure this puppy. I gave up and emailed TrendNet's support people only to be told (promptly I should say) that my Lexmark X5100 printer is NOT COMPATIBLE with any of their print servers. A total waste of time and money. I suggest no one buy this device.

This is a great basic print server. It did not work with my old HP Deskjet 882C, but I had the same problem with another print server. I think this is a printer issue not a print server issue, as the Deskjet 882C was one of the earlier printers to also have USB. When the old printer was replaced with a new HP All-In-One F4140, the print server worked very well (although I did not attempt to use the scanner through it). I have also gotten this print server to work on an HP Laserjet, but I do not recall the model number. Setup is not difficult through the web software; just be sure to follow the directions in the manual on the CD. I would recommend this as a good, basic print server that does the job, as long as it is compatible with your printer.
