However its 4200 RPM speed is a bit slower than current standard hard drives. This SATA hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0.

• Memory: The 2 GB of installed RAM (2 x 1024 MB DDR2) will satisfy many users, but this notebook's two DIMM slots have a maximum 4 GB RAM capacity--perfect for high-end video editing and 3-D gaming. Very nice system with one glitch, December 21, 2007

I ordered Toshiba Satellite U305-S7477 Laptop system from Amazon last month - and I am very happy with it except for one thing - it has one stick pixel. The build quality is very good except for the keyboard - which has a "ripple" in it. The LCD is great otherwise - bright and evenly lit. Its a good deal at the price considering it has 2-Gb of RAM and a 160-Gb HDD. I immediately formatted the HDD though - since Toshiba puts a lot of un-needed apps on it's Vista build. I loaded a spare copy of XP PRO, and it works very well but the XP drivers were pretty hard to find. Next I re-installed Vista HP using my Vista Anytime Upgrade DVD - Vista drivers were easy to install (but they must be downloaded - irritatingly - Toshiba continues to send only restore disks with their laptops versus separate OS and driver CD's like Dell provides). It boots much faster into Vista now and runs very well. Honestly, Toshiba Satellite U305-S7477 is a 4 and 1/2 star system - the stuck pixel isn't a glaring problem given the fine pixel pitch of the LCD.

Great for business people!, November 29, 2007

My new U305-S7477 is replacing a year old Dell laptop and I happened to enjoy almost everything about this model. The screen is bright and crisp,a powerful figuration, and nice looking and operating notebook. I definitely find it as an efficient business tool as a road warrior. A long battery life 7800 mAH lithium-ion battery and not 5200 mAH as mentioned on Amazon's specs (which probably applies to other figurations), and relatively light, and overall pleasant to use. The only downside which isn't as bad as some reviews indicated is the keyboard flex issue, yet with nice texture and comfortable size. Amazon's amazing extremely fast shipment and follow-up system made it a perfect experience. Almost as the Fujitsu I had mentioned earlier but for the half of the price. Strongly recommended!!!

I was looking for a smaller laptop I could take on the road, under $1000, under 5 pounds, that would perform all the business tasks I need like power point presentations, word procesing, spreadsheets, graphics, business contact management and internet communication. The Toshiba U305-S7432(48)filled the order. It even came with a web cam and all sorts of media features. The tru-brite screen has great sharpness, clarity, color and contrast. It dims slightly when on battery but still great. Mobility and value is a great combination.
