Works out of the box, plus TomTom will update the map to newest version for 30 days just connect it to your computer and BingoBongo a web site pops up and it's just that easy! Only thing I don't like about the unit is the volume is too low to hear when I have the radio on. Max volume is not very loud! TomTom One XL GPS is my 2nd TomTom and we like them both! I also like the way you can personalize them if you go to the TomTom Home page and even download new OS's to get more features like I did to my old 700 model.

TomTom One XL GPS GPS worked fine for a few months and was easy to use, however it eventually just quit working. The screen went black and no amount of ''resetting'' like the TomTom support suggested would fix it. This TomTom was very well cared for - it didn't get wet, dropped, etc. It didn't even last a year and TomTom refuses to repair or replace it. I will never own a TomTom again. We bought a Garmin after this randomly quit working and so far have liked it way more than we ever liked this TomTom.

very good device, only thing need to complain is the battery, it can not stand for long without the car charger ('cause i use car charger for my mp3 player)

Recently moved to a new area a thought a GPS would be helpful. The first TomTom shipped had an issue with the cigarette charger, but Tigerdirect customer service made it easy to return, and I had a new one in a week. Re-condition is the way to go.
