wont play videos as it promises in sales material. plays only very specific AVI formats (raw, unedited). not worth it if you want to play videos. also their support hotline is pretty clueless.

3 days after the warranty was up it broke. Panasonic does not stand behind their product! they make is so cheap yet charge greatly for it they are only in it to make a buck.

I've had this frame for over a year now. its fairly basic and does a good job for the price. I did however run into a problem the other day. internal in that holds the stand on the back came apart inside the unit. I took it apart to fix it, and was unimpressed with how the pin was attached to begin with. Also disassembly was very tricky and not for the faint of heard or people inexperienced with electronics. As far as fixing the unit, throw away the pin, install a paperclip and fold the ends over. if you reinstall the pin Pandigital 7.0" LCD WideScreen Digital Frame will just fall out again.

1- If you don't leave screen brightness all the way up it has a good life to it. I've has some over a year using them in art shows (which had them running for over a month at a shot) to host my animations with some little modification. It's very power efficient.2- Codecs are 3rd party code. It's not that it only plays avi uncompressed, it just has limited codecs. Try using MPG. Both mpeg-1 and mpeg-2 work fine.3- As far as the taking it apart warning. It's well designed... outside it's a frame, piece of glass, and a mat. Once you open it up it's a single circuit lined with ports connect to the lcds. If you have ever worked with a tv, this isn't that much different in its basic layout. So if you've taken apart similar things, you will be fine.Relatively speaking, Pandigital is the best products if you know what you're doing. The screen is crisp and the interior layout is organized well. If you don't know electronics... CVS makes cheap prints.
