I've had mine for over a year now. ''0'' issues. I run game and web servers on multiple systems 24/7 and keep it running on all ports at all times. No load or heat issues. The switch does get warm and should be given plenty of space to let the heat dissipate since it's not fan cooled. As long as it used in an open area you should be quite pleased with Netgear 8-Port Gigabit switch's performance, especially at Netgear 8-Port Gigabit price.

Fantastic product. Just got it today plug it in and worked perfect. No adjusting needed. Feature i like is that it adjusts each connection speed for each component you have pluged into it based on 10/100/1000. also i like the fact that you can daisy chain it off a router you are already using. So if you have internet phone you dont have to disconnect it, very nice. also comes with a stand.

I bought the refurbished model for $24 not the new one listed here, but who cares!. the product was awesome so simple to setup. It doesnt have a specific uplink port, because you dont need one. Netgear 8-Port Gigabit will automatically recognize a router in any port you plug it into. really neat. works great. the only thing i dont understand are the the differrent color lights for each port i have plugged in. who cares its working fine.

NOTE: I have 5 PCs and two network appliances, so all 7 ports are in use, 24/7.Pros: Looks like a million bucks, very stylish. Worked well for about 3 days.CONS: Unit overheats very easily when all 7 ports are under load. When that happens it starts rebooting requently. Had to be replaced after a couple of days. Replacement unit also failed quickly -- ports 5-8 do not function at all.CONCLUSION: If you have a Mac this is pretty much de rigeur, Netgear 8-Port Gigabit will fit right in with the all-white design aesthetic. But if you use 6 or 7 of the 8 ports constantly, better pick something else. This guy was not meant for serious 24/7 loading.
