The Wireless-G VPN Broadband Router is the advanced, complete networking solution for your small business, incorporating four essential networking functions in one high-powered box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect Wireless-G (802.11g) or Wireless-B (802.11b) devices to the network. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices. Connect four PCs directly, or daisy-chain out to more hubs and switches to create as big a network as you need.

Third, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. And finally, the Virtual Private Network (VPN) function creates encrypted "tunnels" through the Internet so up to 50 remote or traveling users can securely connect to your office network from off-site, or users in your branch office can connect to a corporate network.

To protect your data and privacy, the Wireless-G VPN Broadband Router can encrypt all wireless transmissions with 128-bit WEP encryption, and also supports the industrial-strength wireless security of 802.1x authentication and authorization. The Router can serve as a DHCP Server, and has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks. It can be configured to filter internal users' access to the Internet, and has MAC or IP address filtering so you can specify exactly who has access to your network. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.

re: Prvious review - Are you kidding ?Linksys WRV54G Wireless VPN Router unit contains the same circuit board as the Linksys WRT series, while adding the VPN module. It's setup should be both easy and without incident. Perhaps the last reviewer received a defective unit. 5+

So far, it is holding true to all other LinkSys products I've owned... easy to set up and administer. The challenge will come next week with getting the VPN and VOIP phone configured. :) I am very satisfied with Linksys WRV54G Wireless VPN Router product.

Don't buy this product. It is the worst product that I have ever used. The VPN never worked. Search the internet and even Linksys' own community forum. All you will find is problems with this product. DO NOT BUY.

I used this product for nearly 3 months and constantly faced connection drops. The device keeps showing the orange light once in a while dropping the active connections. Trouble-shooting with Linksys support didn't yield any solution.The QuickVPN client meant to connect to the VPN server creates problems on the installed systems. I had to uninstall that too, hence the VPN feature became useless.I am so disappointed with this linksys product. Waste of money.

This is by far the worst Linksys product i have ever encountered. The setup was a nightmare. Settings that i told the device to save never did. VPN feature did not work with the Linksys QuickVPN Software, and tech support was horrible. I love Linksys and their products but if i were them i would retract all of these and rebuild them. After i sent this back i bought a Linksys WRT54GS and it is the BEST. Easy setup and very fast connection. I would highly recommend the WRT54GS.
