Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Router Description
Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Router
Start a Wireless Network With Up To 3X the Range and 9X the Speed!
The Wireless-N Home Router is really three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.
The Access Point built into the Router uses the very latest wireless networking technology: Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections up to 3 times farther than standard Wireless-G.
With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the router can increase the throughput even more by using twice as much radio band, yielding speeds up to 9 times as fast as standard Wireless-G. But unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, Wireless-N can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for Wireless-N devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. In congested areas, the "good neighbor" mode ensures that the Router checks for other wireless devices in the area before gobbling up the radio band.
To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. It can serve as your network's DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility.
The incredible speed of Wireless-N makes it ideal for media-centric applications like streaming video, gaming, and Voice over IP telephony, and gives you plenty of headroom to run multiple media-intense data streams through the network at the same time, with no degradation in performance. With the Linksys Wireless-N Home Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games, and run media-intensive applications at incredible speeds, without the hassle of stringing wires!

I just purchased the WRT150N wireless router and i had a small problem with installation, but noticed Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Router was my fault for connecting my PC to the wrong port. After i fixed that...Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Router was a breeze....strong singal and no drop-outs..i am totally happy with Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Router router. I did TRY Linksys tech support at first....hint..dont bother...the tech was out-sourced and VERY slow and no help. I actually ended up hanging up on the tech.

With the original firmware Linksys WRT150N Wireless N Router is an OK router. However, it does not even meet Draft-N standards and your throughput suffers as a result. However, if you upgrade to the DD-WRT firmware, this is a fantastic router. I use one for my media player in my living room and one for my media player in my bedroom. When bridged with my Belkin pre-N I get 54 Mbps at 20 ft and 34 Mbps at 80 ft. When I bridge the two routers together and turn off my Belkin I get 74 Mbps at 80 ft.

I think this router works great. Never gets disconnected. I'm not very computer savvy but setup was easy and simple. I'm running 2 laptops and 1 desktop and speed is excellent plus I find the range is much better even in mixed mode.

I purchased this router from Wal-mart, and i must say, of course Tiger has waaayyy better prices. I needed a router right away, so i had no choice! This routers software is very intuitive and easy to use, however the router is junk!! It worked fine for an hour or so and then continued to disconnect. I reinstalled the software and tried again, same thing. I returned it and purchased the Belkin N router with MIMO and am very pleased, outstanding router for less money. Save yourself some time and money and go that route!

I baught this router (Refurb) from Tiger direct for my home for about 50 dollars to replace an aging Netgear router. It worked out of box for my ''G'' devices and coverage is quite good (I have no N device in my home). This model is being replaced by WRT160N (the same cost) that has internal antenna (but nearly same features.) Lynksys dual mode WRT600N is what my next router will be when prices come down in a year or so. I recommend this.
