Integrated 1.3 Megapixel Camera & Exclusive Lenovo Veriface Security An integrated 1.3 megapixel camera combines with Lenovo's VeriFace face recognition software. Lenovo has introduced a revolutionary new feature called VeriFace on this notebook computer. VeriFace is face recognition software, which is actually capable of identifying authorized users of your Lenovo Notebook Computer just by their faces. Now that many Lenovo systems include integrated cameras with excellent quality (1.3 MegaPixels), facial recognition has become viable and available for day-to-day use in securing your computer. The included software lets you log onto your Windows account simply by sitting in front of your system - your face becomes your password! Even cooler, is that fact that this technology is easy to use for multiple user accounts. Let's say you have three Windows accounts - Mom, Dad, and Sis. If you have associated their faces with their individual user accounts, the system determines which person is in front of the computer when Windows boots. The system then quickly recognizes and automatically logs that user onto the correct account. Read more about this incredible new technology only from Lenovo
Dolby Home Theater The Dolby Home Theater premium audio system gives amazing, theater-style sound. And the best gets even better thanks to four speakers and a sub-woofer.
Design The hinge and logo areas are illuminated by colorful halo lighting, giving the Y710 an exciting, "living" appearance. An innovative Frameless Screen gives these notebooks a uniquely modern appearance, with a super-thin bezel that makes the screen appear to stretch to the very edge of the notebook cover.

The notebook is wonderfull, beautiful sleek lines, incredible speeds, blazingly awesome, even the sound on mine is quite superb; ehmmm however there has to be a ''but'', the dvd burner sounds like a jet taking off! Its horribly loud, I actually look around to make sure no one is in the room when I have to load software, and its not just when it first starts to spin up, its always like Lenovo IdeaPad Y710 Notebook when in use. I can hold my finger and push in on the drive bay and it dampens some of the noise, but why? It seems there is loose plastic around the drive and the power of the drive it self is almost too much for it to hold together. On the plus side how many people around still use the cddvd drives anyways, I mean I carry a 2-4 gig stick at all times and most installs can now be downloaded for software. Well thats my 2 cents I love Lenovo IdeaPad Y710 laptop!

The Y710 is a nice looking machine I have had mine for two weeks and put it through the paces..The video driver crashes alot and the number pad is bouncy. seems as if it is just a snap in with poor fit. The shiny surfaces make it a real finger print magnet. The sound for DVD movies through Media Player is low,had to add windvd to get better volume..The sub system is a joke...but Im trying to get use to the machine now, ordered more memory to boost it up to 4gigs,and ordered second hard drive of 250gigs.Over all nice looking laptop, but Wish it performed better.

I guess I got a lemon. I bought the machine because Lenovo got good ratings for their phone service. The machine made a little pop and would not turn back on. I got the run around from Lenovo / IBM. I was given at least four different phone numbers, waiting on hold for a long time, only to get sent back to the original phone number that was given on the Tiger Direct web site. VeriFace is hard to use. Directions are lacking. The picture is nice. The sound is fine for what it is. My 30 day guarantee is almost over. I hope I didn't get burned on this thing.

Overall I love this laptop. It games extremely well and is very attractive despite it's size. The only issues I have with it are some of the lenovo apps, which are very clever, but rarely help as well or save you the time that they are meant to and the sound. Lenovo makes a point of advertising this laptop's incredible sound system which lead me to expect an above average experience. I was wrong!! The speakers are horrible, the ''sub'' is a joke, and the dolby is not configurable beyond ''on/off'' settings. Again let me say that I do love this machine but having speakers that crackle and buzz at even 1/2 volume is completely unacceptable in my opinion...however it obviously doesn't annoy me enough to make me want to return it.....but it is still annoying ;)

A little steep from the get-go, but the components that make it worth while is the ATI Radeon 256 MB video card and the large 17'' screen. Pros: Nice SD card reader off the front, unique design w/ halo lighting, video card, sturdy. Cons: 2 GB is not enough w/ RAM hog Vista running, DVD player lags at times, heavy for some.Summary: This isn't for mobility and e-mail checking. If you want some aesthetics behind your investment and potential for gaming, 3D modeling programs, and multimedia I strongly consider this laptop.
