Had mine nearly 3 months. Lenovo has the drivers for xp. I ended up creating a dual booting xp/vista system. Xp works great on it. Not really impressed with vista. Overall works fine. Sound is ok. Lenovo 3000 Y410 Laptop is my 3rd laptop. Sound on others was about the same so I hadn't found the sound really lacking much. Keyboard feel is really good.

Purchased on prior Black Friday; great deal after rebate. Agree with others on the low 'max' volume, kinda glad to find out it's a 'standard' problem on Lenovo 3000 Y410 design; but needs to be fixed in future redesign! I downgraded RAM to 1GB (swapped RAM sets with another laptop); this one still fast, and other is also improved. Buy this if you can live with the low volume 'defect'.

I bought this laptop in February '08 to replace my old Acer and a mid-tower PC I built about 5 years ago. I was impressed then and I am still impressed! It's sturdy, great battery life, nice screen, runs cool and quiet (which is a huge plus), and the wifi is no hassle (connects fast). The speakers are nice but the volume is really low. I've yet to experience the sub-wolfer; I doubt it works. I could do without VeriFace but it's fun to see the pictures of the factory where the unit was built--VeriFace stored them on the PC. It's a shame that such a nice laptop comes with Windows Vista...would be nice if they built it for Linux instead. I'd buy another one in a heart beat. I am sold on Lenovo.

I am happy with this notebook. Greeat bang for your buck after the rebate.As everyone else, I had some problems with the volume. I wadded carefully through the help pages before trying anything and it payed off.After following the exact sequence presented by another customer I was able to install the proper drivers.It did not become a boom box, but I can watch a movie comfortable with no earphones despite being hard of hearing.I have not found a way to do better with the mic. I guess I will buy another.

Good value for money and loads of features. Thats why I bought it. I have had my share of troubles with it. First is low speaker volume. Then mic requires you to almost poke your head inside it before it picks your voice. My frnds had cheaper DELL Vostros with much better mic and speakers. My mic just doesn't pick up whatever I do, so now I have to buy a headfone.I downloaded updated sound drivers from Lenovo website and installed. The volume didn't increase but another problem started. Now when it is powered on speakers dont work, then I put into sleep mode and wake up, the speakers are on. Miracles Miracles. Then I downloaded the yet latest sound drivers from the lenovo site. Now my webcam stopped working. It is not even recognized in the hardware, for manual configuration.Other problems are heating. The hard disk is located under the hand rest, which becomes so hot that u cant touch it. It doesn't catch wireless connection in college where my frnds enjoy it on their DELLs and HPs.
