I love Kodak EasyShare Z1285 12.0 Megapixel Digital Camer camera. For a point and shoot Kodak EasyShare Z1285 12.0 Megapixel Digital Camer thing is top notch. The optic zoom is nice.

The camera is outstanding. Pictures are clear and sharp. The bang for the buck is outstanding.The only negative is the supplied software from Kodak. You have to load in your PC in order to download photos and it is pretty worthless. It is slow, crash-prone and has non-existant support.Great camera, mediocre software.

I am very pleased with this camera as a point and shoot camera. It is easy to use; almost self explanatory if you have had a previous similar camera. Good picture quality. When I blow up a 2.2mp photo from another camera, and compare it to the 12mp photo from this camera, it may be 4-5 times better, which is what I would expect. Excellent LCD display. Although the automatic settings are excellent, you have the option to preset flash, picture setting (fireworks, night, etc.) to override the auto setting. Unexpected goody is the portrait flip; taking a sideway photo causes it to position correctly. I really like panorama. Zoom is excellent at 5x w/ 5x additional digital zoom. I miss the manual viewfinder; I like to turn off the LCD to save battery and cannot do it here. Battery is adequate with Ni-MH. There is some misleading literature that suggests this can use LI-Ion batteries...it cannot. Buy two options: dock and 8gb SDHD card(excellent speed and 2000 pict. cap.)

Well, they say you get what you pay for. For this camera you get that plus some. CONS: Eats batteries but all high end cameras do. Invest in the best rechargeables you can find. 2800mAH. It has problems focusing some times zoomed in at 5x.You can hear the motor in the video when you zoom in and out. Movies are Quicktime ''.MOV'' format, which stinks if you want to edit them with Windows Movie Maker. There are fee converters available online though. MOV files are large and you need a powerful computer to view/edit them without lag. PROS:Its a great deal for a 12mb. Pictures quality is very nice. Auto feature does a great job adjusting for light, etc. Its small. I can put it in my front pocket and still walk. If you are looking for a camera with all the bells and whistles, get a $400-500 one. If you want one that does 12mp and does 1280x720 30fps for under $200, get this one.

Sad; I really wanted this camera to work with its 5x zoom; 12 megapixels; and HD movie mode. Its 12meg snapshots are beautiful and HD movie mode is very good but not super. This camera has severe electrical problems. Other buyers mention eating battteries; its worse than that. I only got 6 minutes on new batteries; I tried AA Alkaline and also 2200 Ah rechargeable. The rechargeable batteries are almost no good after they go dead. I used my battery tester on all 8 batteries I used to check problem. The Alkaline were drained to zero, not just low; and the rechargeables to 5%; but did recharge. What is bad is camera turns off in middle of shoot auto when battery goes low. This camera is Kodak's top of the line and they should be embarassed by it. Don't waste you time or money; very flawed engineering. I've owned over 6 digital cameras and never had a camera act horrible like this. The Kodak software is awful;it hides the mem card from Windows!!You have to remove sd card and put in reader.
