Iogear GPSU21 USB 2.0 Print Description
Iogear - GPSU21 - USB 2.0 Print Server
IOGEAR's palm sized 1-port USB 2.0 Print Server allows any networked computer to share an USB printer. It complies with USB 2.0 specifications (backward compatible with USB 1.1 spec.), and provides users with an auto-sensing Ethernet port that works with either 10Base-T or 100Base-T networks. This unit also supports multiple protocols and multiple operating systems, and it integrates Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) in this print server to allow users to print from any computer over a LAN/WAN or the Internet by specifying the device's URL. The built-in web management feature provides more convenience by allowing the user to configure, monitor and even reset the print server via a web browser. This eliminates the need to place the printer right next to the computer. Print jobs can be sent to a printer in another country just as easily as to a printer in the same office. Why bother sending a degraded fax image while you can print an original at the destination?

Got Iogear GPSU21 USB 2.0 Print Server for our Computer Lab at the Continuing Care Facility and Iogear GPSU21 USB 2.0 Print Server was breeze to install. Pleased with the unit as it is small enough to attach to the Hp2600n printer

We had a small issue when we first installed it. It changes your printer to 'Use Offline' which is easily remedied. What stumped me and tech support was the print server was getting the jobs, but nothing to the printer. We unchecked the bi-directional printing. After unchecking Iogear GPSU21 USB 2.0 Print box (on the Ports tab in the printer properties dialog) it worked great. After reading some of the issues people have had with other USB print servers, I'd recommend this one. Once set up it's been great. Surprisingly quick, too. Check out IOGear's site for printer compatability, too.

I had decided to network my HP Photosmart 7550. Installation was no problem. I had to make a longer network cable to reach a switch, as it only has a short one in the box. I now have the 7550 available to three networked PCs: 2 desktops and a laptop. The only draw back is that the card reader does not appear to be shared. That is not really a problem as I have plenty of USB ports on my PCs and external readers to access flash cards if I need to. (The 7550 will access them locally.) As I had installed the HP printer on one machine before networking it, the ink utility will appear only on that PC when I print from that machine. It then shows me the ink levels. Also the test print does not print many driver details... But for $50 I am not complaining! I have not tried Internet printing... yet!
