Homeland Security FDVR-400CCD Security System Reviews

Love the built in monitor. Good piece for the money. I did not feel like spending over 1k and the quality is just fine. Took some time to lay the cables but I hooked the system up very quickly. Specs are good for the money. Added bonus was the power splitters which allowed me to use 1 plug for all the cameras.

Homeland Security FDVR-400CCD Security System unit is misrepresented. The review I just read cannot be accurate. The facts are the cameras are not hi res. as 380 lines is very low or poor resolution. 540 lines is hi res. The infra reds do not shoot out 30' they go out about 20' and very narrow. The cameras are outdated technology and nobody uses them unless they have no money. The recorder does not record in real time for every camera. The compression MJPEG is again outdated. MPEG4 is the currnet compression that is acceptable. Overall the system is OK if you need to settle. If you are going to spend money then for a few hundred more you should get a system with the specs I just wrote about. As for installation there is no way on the planet you can install Homeland Security FDVR-400CCD Security System yourself in an hour. It takes at least an hour per camera to run the cables and hook it up, and that is if you know what you are doing, figure more if not. You better understand DVRs if you are going to program it, network it, and then view it. 1st review is so bogus

I love this security DVR. I own a convenience store in Atlanta and I have had some issues with vandalism. Anyway, I bought this unit and hooked it up in about an hour. About 3 days later vandals spray painted one side of the store. After setting up the motion detection area I did not have to sift through hours of video to find what I wanted. The setup on the motion detection is really cool and allows me to block out traffic and trees moving. To make a long story short the cameras recorded the activity and I was able to transfer the files to my USB. I gave it to the police and the next day they arrested the suspects. In addition, I can access the DVR from my home via the internet. The display is crisp and I love that it folds back into the unit. Overall I give this unit a 10 out of 10.
