HIS Radeon HD 2600 XT 512MB AGP Reviews

Good graphics card; but, the specifications are not 100% true. It says 1400MHz memory clock, but it is actually 700MHz. The card gets really hot (60C/140F) even when it is not at any load. When I play games like Assassin's Creed, it gets hotter. The features are very good. Not a bad card but it could have been better.

My other card Radeon HD 2400 Pro was plug and play right out of the box. HIS Radeon HD 2600 XT 512MB AGP card gives me a black screen. My system specs are within requirements. Documentation is minimal, support on the product on their website leads to a dead link and the product codes on the card do not match the ones on the website. If you are looking for a third world POS experience, HIS Radeon HD 2600 XT 512MB AGP is the card for you. But hey, at least it arrived quickly.

If you are beginner, do not attempt to istall this card yourself. As stated before on this forum, DO NOT load drivers from included CD on your Vista system (al teast if you run Pentium 4 processor). HIS Radeon HD 2600 XT 512MB AGP will positively crsh your system. I tried newest drivers from ATI website (there are 2 types WHQL and WHQL certified). I tried these drivers too. My system worked well for a few hours. Then crashed. After restat all I got was black screen. Then I downoloaded drivers from VisionTek website (version 8.6). They work fine so far. Aside from horrible drivers, this card works fine. My ''Vista Experience'' index is at 5.5 for AERO performance and 5.9 for gaming performance. Which is not bad for AGP card. It runs quietly and has decent features. I would recommend this card if you want to extend useful life of your aging system for a few years.

when i went to turn up the resolution on a game to try out the card my cpu turned off every time. I read the reviews and went and down loaded the drivers then all i got was a black screen. The specs on line call for a minimum of 350w power supply, the box calls for a 450w or better. Never got to see what this card could do for gaming graphics.

Following the advice of another Tiger Direct customer's review, I opted to download drivers from the VisionTek website. Installation was flawless and the drivers/card works like a charm!Although this card seems geared more toward video viewing/editing enthusiasts, I purchased it strictly for computer gaming. And more specifically, DirectX 9 games (BF2/2143/TF2) as opposed to DirectX 10 games (BioShock, etc.) which this card does support. For comparison to those looking to upgrade an older AGP video card, I offer the following information:3DMark03 Benchmark TestATI Radeon X800XT PE: 12,443 3DMarksHIS Radeon HD 2600 XT: 12,933 3DMarksBattlefield 2 (1280x960, High Settings, No AA)ATI Radeon X800XT PE: 78fps Avg.HIS Radeon HD 2600 XT: 72fps Avg.Keep in mind that the specs of this card are NOT comparable to specs of other HD 2600 XT cards. They are lower: Core Clock-800Mhz, Mem. Clock-700Mhz (DDR=1400Mhz). Overall, this is a CHEAP solution to maintaining AGP performance.
