Tried Gateway M-6841 Refurbished Laptop computer twice. Got one and it didn't work. Sent it back and got another one and it had the same problem. No operating system. Very nice looking unit with a lot of features which I never got to use cause it wouldn't fire up.

I recently bought the M6750 (core duo 2 5450 instead of 5550) and it is working perfectly. I have pinned the cpu up to 1.9ghz with no problems. I must say that I am dissappointed with performance in Vista with games and have downgraded to XP SP3. One other issue is gateway ''junkware'' that take an hour to remove. Otherwise a great purchase. I payed 599$ for my M6750.What a deal!

I never liked Vista until I got Gateway M-6841 machine. It's lightning quick! Word 2007 takes under 1-1/2 seconds to launch, and all tray icons appear within two seconds following the desktop at startup. Its as fast as XP on any of my other machines, and I didnt have to disable any services.The video is smooth, but not tops. I watch DVDs, and even record my screen Debut, and its plenty. It should be fully capable of entry-level video editing. But if youre into the newest 3D stuff, youll need a dedicated graphics accelerator. For this reason, I give it a 4 in performance.I also give it a 4 in quality because half of the user reviews report defect within days on the M-6750. This unit is a steal if it works for you. But remember that it is refurbished. Nevertheless, considering that this unit packs as much oomph as any $900 unit should, youd be wise to invest some of the $280 you save in an extended warranty, just in case.
