Navigate With Ease
nüvi 205W comes preloaded with City Navigator NT map data for the contiguous U.S. Simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, and nüvi takes you there with turn-by-turn voice directions, 2-D or 3-D maps and smooth map redraw rates as you navigate. Its digital elevation maps show you shaded contours at higher zoom levels, giving you a big picture of the surrounding terrain. In addition, nüvi 205W accepts custom points of interest (POIs), such as school zones and safety cameras and lets you set proximity alerts to warn you of upcoming POIs. With HotFix satellite prediction, nüvi calculates your position faster to get you there quicker.

Like the rest of the nüvi 2x5-series, nüvi 205W sports a sleek, slim design and fits comfortably in your pocket or purse. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery makes it convenient for navigation by car or foot. With its "Where Am I?" emergency locator, you always know your location. Simply tap the screen to get your exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and fuel stations.

Go Beyond Navigation
Navigation is just the beginning. nüvi 205W includes many travel tools including JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more. With photo navigation, you can download Google Panoramio pictures via our Garmin Connect Photos website and navigate to them. The 205W is compatible with optional enhanced MSN Direct content (subscription and receiver required) and our free Garmin Garage where you can download animated vehicles that show your location on the map. I went and rented a car in Detroit and I haven't been in Michigan in 20 years, Garmin Nuvi 205W GPS is the best little machine I have ever used, so good in fact that I had to buy one and the price at TigerDirect was great.

The unit works just fine but there is a gimmick buried in fine print (absence of information). The box does not include USB-mini cable. Which is fine except you can't register your GPS without it being connected to your PC. Garmin Nuvi 205W GPS means you have to have one. Garmin sells theirs for $16 (plus S&H), Tigerdirect has one $10.00. They are selling a product you can't register unless you pay more money, its more than a little misleading.

I did a ton of research on GPS units. I found that this model had all of the features that I needed, without the ones that I don't. I don't need Bluetooth, I don't need a MP3 player, and I don't need the unit to announce street names. It performs excellent. I do suggest getting to know the unit in a familiar area, so that you know how far in advance it announces turns, recalculates, and performs. I am extremely satisfied with the product in both functionality, and in quality. I highly recommend this model.

CompUSA had the best price I could find on this unit, especially with the low S&H. Quick shipment and smooth transaction. I helped my dad buy this. I have the Streetpilot C530. The nuvi is much thinner in its profile and has quite a few newer features in comparison to mine. The widescreen shows much more of the surrounding area as well. You could easily take this one while walking in an area, while mine would be more cumbersome. Speaker is louder than mine too. If mine goes out, this is the one I'll be buying for myself.
