Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx
Outdoor/Marine/GPS Navigation
The GPSMAP 60CSx is a refreshing upgrade of the GPSMAP 60CS, one of our most popular models for outdoor and marine use. This unit features a removable microSD card for detailed mapping memory and a waterproof, rugged housing. The microSD card slot is located inside the waterproof battery compartment. Users can load map data and transfer routes and waypoints through the unit's fast USB connection.
In addition, this unit features a new, highly sensitive GPS receiver that acquires satellites faster and lets users track their location in challenging conditions, such as heavy foliage or deep canyons. The GPSMAP 60CSx also incorporates a barometric altimeter for extremely accurate elevation data and an electronic compass that displays an accurate heading while standing still.
Considered the mainstay among serious outdoor enthusiasts, the GPSMAP 60CSx and GPSMAP 60Cx offer a large color TFT display and turn-by-turn routing capability. Each unit comes with a blank 64 MB microSD card. Owners of these new x-series handhelds can also purchase new microSD cards that are pre-loaded with MapSource Topo and inland lake maps, BlueChart marine cartography, and City Navigator street maps.

Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx GPS Reviews

Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx GPS is one of the best handheld GPS units I've used. It acquires satellites very quickly, even under tree canopy in the steep mountains of central WV in mid summer. On/off button is on top of unit where it's not easily hit. It uses regular batteries which have a good life. It's very easy to see in shade or full sunlight, with good contrast adjustments. Topo maps or driving maps can be added via memory cards or downloaded from PC to the included memory card, which is located in the battery compartment. It feels like a small handheld radio. It comes with a detachable a belt hanger like a cell phone. Interfaces with PC using USB. You can use track recording to do rough land surveys by just walking around the boundary of the area and Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx GPS will calculate area in acres. It is somewhat expensive, but it does a lot. Compass is active when you are stopped. Has altimeter so you know your elevation in hilly country.

Amazing unit! Connects quickly to sat's and pin points position within 20 - 30 feet. Haven't gone hiking yet, however bought the car kit with navigation software. All I have to say is WOW. It a bit expensive, but worth every penny! Basically I paid for something that costs as much as the car types but I can pull it out of the car and hike with it! With purchased maps it can navigate with car or boat or by foot!

Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx GPS is by far an awesome GPS, with the addition of Iraq street level maps it has become a valuable tool while deployed to Iraq. With the addition of an external antenna it out preforms the military units by far. It gives us the MGRS 10 digit level grid coordinates in a much faster and easier to read format. We do double check all data against our Military GPS when using them for tactical calls for fire.

I love this thing. The mapping software is not the best, but abilities of the GPS unit far overcome that. Tigerdirect's shipping was as always very fast. This unit is definitely worth the extra money as compared to cheaper units. This is a very versatile unit. I was able to get it to navigate within about 5 feet. That is awesome! I would buy another one no questions asked!

I haven't had my GPS for a year yet but it's been back at Garmin twice. Once because the max elevation got stuck on 65,493 ft. I never jumped that high or had it on a plane that flew that high. They fixed that but when I got it back the on/off button wouldn't work all the time. It got worse over time to the point that I was jamming ink pens down into it for operation. That's why its back at Garmin again. My friend bought a Magellan 500 and its worked fine. For $70.00 he got the whole US topo maps and they're way better than Map Source and half the price. Live and learn. Buy the Magellan Triton 500 and be happy.
