EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB PCIe 2.0 Reviews

EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB PCIe 2.0 card is a screamer. Fallout 3 on ultra only lags around tons of water and I think thats a graphic program problem, not a card problem. Runs everything else I have at max without overclocking. Would have bought 2 of these but that would have put my budget game rig over budget, and truthfully, I don't really think I'll need a second card for a while. Beware though EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB PCIe 2.0 card is a monster. It fit but I could see certain motherboards having issues with sata ports/memory access blocked. I am running the MSI K92n Platinum and it fits on the board no problem.

Over all this is an excellant price for a highend Video Card. Not that happy about some of the perfomance in Crysis on DX10, but in DX9 the FPS is 40 to 50 on My custom maps. I was expecting a really huge improvement going from the 8600GTS to this Card, but I guess I cant complain. If you want really good perfomance in Crysis this will do just fine, but at the Price I would get 2 of these and SLI them together. Any other games except Crysis will play on MAX settings with well over 100 FPS on most.

I upgraded from 2 8600 GTSs in SLi to 2 of these bad boys. My 3DMark06 score went from 12,000 on a good day to 14,600. My Vista Experience score went from 5.7 to 5.9. Crysis defaults to High. Stays at 40c with fans at 60% and maxes out at 60c under load in an Antec 900 case with 5 case fans. These things are HUGE! I am slightly OCing to 720/1800/1100 with Rivatuner. these cards were north of 300 samoleams in March of 08. For those who care; Q6600 OC'd to 2.9, 4 gig Corsair @ 4-4-4-12 850 Mhz, 2 Striped Raptors, EVGA 680 mobo, BFG 680 watt PSU, 24'' NEC LCD

8800 gts 512mb 20% OC (785 MHz core clock and can go more)!!! This card is blazing fast. I couldnt be happier about this purchase. I upped the fan to 60% and it runs cool at 60 deg C. My computer runs faster, tv and DVDs look and run better, and I can play crysis on all high settings at an about 30 fps (800x1280 resolution no filters). Most of crysis is playable 20+ fps on very high directX 10 (Believe me its worth the cut in fps, it looks amazing). Call of duty 4 maxed out everything 100+ fps, HL2 episode 2 maxed out 100+ fps. This card is just as fast, maybe faster with OC, than the 9800GTX which is 100 dollars more. If you dont believe me go read the real reviews. I have a quad core 2.4 GHz, 2 gig ram, vista 32-bit, 600 Watt psu. :)
