Well, first of all, I ignored the software it came with and installed the driver only. I use Nero vision to import the video and it works just like I had expected. Video quality is about the same as the video on the VHS tape that I use. I initially used it on my XP machine. Have not used Vista yet.

Picture quality is low & not good enough for recording. If images move quickly you can see lines & pixel degradation.

I had a different unit for my XP that did not work in Vista Ultimate. Avermedia DVD EZMaker worked as advertized. I followed the directions, but only installed the driver as I have Power Director by CyberLink to import and edit my movies. I am very pleased with the product.

I have amassed a collection of older VHS tapes over the years, I certainly wasn't about to buy DVD replacements (even if possible).... it'd cost a small fortune! Using a video capture device that would link my VCR to the computer is my only option. Having recently bought the Avermedia DVD EZMaker, it works like a charm! Easy to set up, easy to use. I'm having a blast converting ancient tapes to DVDs! Quality of copied videos is the same as would you receive from watching VHS tapes. So, don't expect miracles. One other thing I should mention, Windows Vista has a bad habit of interfering with the supplied installation discs. Just ignore all Vista warnings and follow the instructions on discs.
