Acer Aspire 7720-6569 Laptop laptop is much better than I expected, especially at Tiger's price. Screen is huge and very, very sharp and clear (albeit a bit too reflective; one sees a lot of lights and background). I find it reasonably fast despite Vista (I'd worried, from all I'd heard); it's fine for normal use. Acer Aspire 7720-6569 version has a slower X3100 iGPU (not great for games) than some laptops but that gives longer battery life than the ones w/ faster GPUs (and thus this one is well suited for writing, IMHO). Some Lenovo X6x types have even longer battery life, but cost quite a bit more and Lenovo has a truly lousy rep for customer service, so I went with this. Sound is just OK. I'm very happy with it. It's huge (like a diving board) because of the screen, but much lighter than I expected. My waif of a wife commented on how light Acer Aspire 7720-6569 Laptop was. Tiger shipped quickly, as always.

This is my first Acer computer and so far I am very impressed. Also my first Vista OS on a system. The Acer is really nice. Great Webcam, nice KB with a number keypad. The touchpad can be disabled while typing, one of the other reviewers concerns, and I disabled it as I have a wireless mouse (Recommended). As far as Vista goes, I am a computer professional with 20+ years exp.,I have decided that this OS is unfairly knocked. If you conffigure and optimize it (time consuming but worth it) it performas wonderfully. Do yourself a favor and get a 4GB USB or SD, ready boost compatible memory device and use it for the Windows ready boost. Really makes Vista sing! Overall this is a smokin deal!

I have two of these bad boys; one for grandduaghter for college, one for wife. Works very well, features are great. Make sure you install Vista SP1 and do the updates for max performance.

Pro:1. BIG!(Big screen), which is great for presentation and enough screen-space for multitasking, great for work station.2. great value. 3. it has everything you need. 4. very quiet and the cooling system does a very good job.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Con: 1. BIG!(Heavy, 8lb!), very inconvenient for traveler. 2. Sometimes the touchpad loses control of the cursor when the machine is busy loading, causing cursor to jump all over or hang. This is the main problem of this machine.3. Video card is weak. Definitely not for gaming, but saves a lot of battery.4. Too much bundle software. I spent almost an hour to delete them. 5. the surface of the screen is like a glass. very reflective, not really good for outdoor use. 6. the built-in speakers sound clear. however, very poor bass respond. but not a big issue when using headphone.

Touchpad causes cursor to jump all over - a real pain when you are writing. Left click button doesn't always work. The silver paint on the left click button wore off within 2 months. I'd like to return it!
