Acer Aspire 5520-5156 Laptop review is being written half-way through the first full day of rigorous testing and and the results so far are above expectations.The software bundled with the machine runs flawlessly and without delay.The communications hardware functions very well and offers excellent range of movement throughout the entire house with minimal signal loss depicted in the toolbar graph.Flexibility of boot options is good and even allows for booting from a flash-drive with a simple setting change on the desktop.I love that. I ran Kubuntu from my 32gig Patriot flashdrive that I got from TigerDirect.Acer makes drivers available on their website and they offer the option to buy restore disks.Through a glitch I experienced on the website I opted to call Acer directly and instead of charging me for the restore disks they offered them for free!Incredible value, strong customer support,capability of equipment exceeding expectations...couldn't ask for anything more.

Acer Aspire 5520-5156 is a great machine for the price. My only compliants are that the volume on the side is easy to hit and when you type it can be easy to hit the touchpad and move your cursor.

This is an EXCELLENT notebook, I give it 5 stars. I've owned 6 or 7 Acer's (I won't mention the horrible Toshiba) and so far this is the best. It's got an nVidia nForce chipset and nVidia 7000M graphics that are better than any of my previous ones (all were Intel or ATi). The 2GB of RAM is great... it's plenty, plus the dual-core 64-bit AMD proc is fast and furious. Built-in InfraRed lets you use your media apps with a remote and connect IR devices or sync with Palm, etc. The Super-Multi burner burns almost any type of media, including DVD-RAM discs. The built-in webcam is the best I've ever used, ultra high quality. 250GB SATA drive is VERY fast and large enough to ensure you won't fill it up for quite a while. Acer offers XP drivers on their site so I'm now dual-booting XP and Vista. Vistas score for the system is thru the roof except for the video, which Vista gave a low score. That's ok because I give Vista a low score too so we're even ;) GRAB ONE of these before the deal is gone!

I have a computer repair and networking busniness on the side and have worked with many computers over the years.I ordered the 5520 for my son for college. But I only had a day to get it all set up and ready for him to use. The pc is elegant but seems to be sturdy also. I guess we just have to adjust to windows vista but even so this model has great clarity and 15.4 screen. Acer has been one of the better products for the money for some time .. Thanks tiger direct for offering this product at a great price.

Bought this as a replacement for my wife's Toshiba (runs VERY hot). This is a much better machine with all the features and power you could want. It comes with Windows Vista which, in my opinion is the worst operating system ever. I've removed it and opted for XP. The computer itself is a great value and I'd highly reccommend it.
